As the saying goes: “fashion should be a form of escapism”, “a picture paints a thousand words”, and “music is the moonlight in the gloomy night of life”. So what about jewellery? Jewellery — being in its iridescent, charming and lavish form, “is an outlet for expression”. Through the interview with an inspiring leader, jewellery designer, coach and founder of her many jewellery brands, Angie Ng, has shared with us her journey of how jewellery has led her to be the successful woman she is today.

Founded Elegant Jewellery Studio, Ng was first exposed to a jewellery family business back in 2002 that had been around for over 3 decades. While working there, she realized that keeping the family business tradition plays a significant role in not just maintaining the legacy, but to also bring about the many distinguishable uniqueness the business upholds to more jewellery lovers.
Ng mentioned that her jewellery making business was accidental and created out of frustration. When she first embarked her journey into running a boutique, she did not expect her employees to lack the foundation of jewellery making. Needless to say, in hopes of solving the issue, she flew out of the country to take a fashion jewellery design course professionally. Since then, many people around her were curious about her learnings and that's when she started sharing her skills with them. “The more I share, the more I love teaching”, Ng said. Her passion towards teaching led her to step out of her comfort zone to launch jewellery making workshops.
The art of jewellery making

Ng explained that jewellery, to her, isn’t love at first sight. Instead it is an emotional connection. “Jewellery symbolises perfection and romance. When I wear a piece of jewellery, it reminds me of a memorable moment I’ve experienced, therefore I would often feel connected with whatever piece I wear.” She also emphasized that “art” is subjective and that every individual has different perspectives towards “art”. To Ng, the art of jewellery making is a form of therapy and stress reliever. Instead of making a piece just for the sake of selling, it unleashes the creative side and potential of the jewellery creator. It encourages people to express their ideas and imagination.
Moreover, when asked about her favourite collection, Ng mentioned that her proudest creation was the “Multiway Pearl Necklace'' collection. The piece is a functional jewellery and it can be worn in fourteen different ways, so there's no need to worry about having not enough accessories.
